VTI's ENVIRONMENTAL POLICY
VTI’s environmental policy has been established in accordance with the ISO14001:2004 environmental standard. Environmental protection legislation and regulations shape the basics of our environmental policy. VTI instructs all employees to operate in a responsible manner with respect to the environment, security, and occupational safety.
Our objective is to constantly minimize everything that might have a detrimental effect on people or the environment in every aspect of our operations. We always take environ-mental impact into account in decision-making, and we are committed to continuously improving our environmental awareness and preventing the pollution of the environment.
We inform our customers and other interest groups of our environmental operations and the efforts we are making to improve in this area. All people working for or on behalf of VTI have been informed of our environmental policy, and a copy of the policy is available to everybody.
Environmental considerations in product and process design
Considering of environmental aspects in product and process design is an important part of Concept to Manufacturing process. Environmental legislation and regulations have to be taken into account when writing the requirement specification used as an input document to product and process design.
Environmental aspects like energy and water consumption, use of hazardous materials, generation of waste and recyclability have to be considered when selecting materials, methods and equipment used in manufacturing processes.
Design review checklists are utilized to assure that this takes place in all design projects. When selecting material suppliers and subcontractors, companies with ISO14001 system in place are preferred. As a result of our design efforts we should have a product that fulfils regulatory requirements and is cost effective and safe to manufacture through out the supply chain.
Management commitment
VTI’s management is committed to implementing and developing the
company’s quality and environmental policies.
These policies are
reviewed annually in a management review to assess whether they have
been implemented appropriately and whether changes in our operational
environment mean that we need to modify or update them.
VTI’s quality and environmental management systems meet or even exceed
the requirements of the customers, as well as ISO/TS16949 and ISO14001.
The quality and environmental policy statements together with company
values, vision and mission have strong influence on management
decisions. Our actions evolve around continuous improvement in
everything we do.
VTI has successfully passed both quality system audits by BSI and process audits conducted by our customers. Internal auditing is actively used to develop the systems further.
