SCA103T Series - High accuracy inclinometer
VTI has developed a new inclinometer family that uses differential
measurement principle. SCA103T Series takes advantage of highly
integrated electronics and proven MEMS technology. Being designed for
accurate inclination measurements, these products show excellent
reliability and performance even in harsh industrial environments.
Typical applications for the SCA103T Series are high accuracy
instruments, e.g. levels and lasers.
SCA103T Series has two analog outputs and a digital SPI interface for direct signal processing. Signal differentiation can be made externally by an instrumentation amplifier or a micro controller. Signal differentiation brings remarkable benefits; it improves sensitivity of the product and significantly reduces common mode noises. The resolution of the analog signals is 0.001° (20µg) in 8 Hz bandwidth, and the digital resolution is 0.009°/LSB. Products have an internal temperature measurement and compensation. This together with a long term stability better than 0.014° enables extremely high accuracy over temperature range -25...85°C. Offset accuracy better than ±0.14° is guaranteed in -25...85°C range. SCA103T Series includes a ±30° version with 8V/g differential sensitivity, and a ±15° version with 16V/g differential sensitivity.
The products are equipped with a sophisticated self-test function for continuous system functionality monitoring. This makes interconnection failures, such as short or open circuits easily detectable. The products are a pick-and-place mountable SMD DIL-12 components, and re-flow solderable. They are insensitive to vibrations due to the over-damped sensing element. In instrument applications the final accuracy is limited by the noise level of 7µV/ Hz (0.0004°/ Hz). The products can withstand mechanical shocks of more than 20 000g. They are completely lead-free, and thus environmentally friendly. The SCA103T samples are available in May 2004.
